Question 1

What is Lokafy?

Accepted Answer

Lokafy is a travel marketplace that connects travelers with passionate locals — called Lokafyers — for private, personalized city tours. Instead of following a tour group, you explore a city one-on-one with someone who actually lives there.

Question 2

How do I book a Lokafy tour?

Accepted Answer

Browse Lokafyers in your destination city, choose one whose story and style fits you, and book directly through the Lokafy website. You'll pay online, receive a confirmation, and can message your Lokafyer before the tour to plan the experience.

Question 3

What type of traveler is Lokafy best for?

Accepted Answer

Lokafy is best for independent travelers — solo travelers, couples, and small groups — who want an authentic local experience over a scripted group tour. It suits curious travelers who value real conversation, hidden gems, and a flexible itinerary shaped around their interests.

Question 4

What are Lokafy reviews like?

Accepted Answer

Travelers consistently highlight the personal connection with their Lokafyer as the standout element — many describe it as exploring a city with a knowledgeable friend rather than a guide. Reviews frequently mention discovering places they would never have found on their own.

Question 5

Where do you offer Lokafy tours?

Accepted Answer

Lokafy walking tours are organized all around the world but they are better suited for urban centres. We have a large network of friends so no matter what city you're travelling to, we'll have a connection there and will find someone for your tour.

Question 6

How does the booking process work?

Accepted Answer

Send in a booking request and tell us about your travel plans, who you're travelling with, and any extra details. With this information, we will choose the right Lokafyer for your tour based on your interests and availability.

Question 7

How far in advance do I have to book?

Accepted Answer

For bigger cities, we only need 24 hours to match you with the perfect local. In smaller cities, we ask for 4 days to fulfill your booking. As a general rule, the more notice you give us, the more time we can spend finding you a local that is best suited for your tour.

Question 8

Is Lokafy safe to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Lokafyer goes through a careful recruitment and vetting process before hosting guests. We verify identities, review their background, and make sure they have the right experience to host travelers responsibly.

Question 9

Why do I have to pay for this?

Accepted Answer

Part of your payment goes towards maintaining the platform, while the other part goes to the locals who take time to share their city with you. Lokafyers are compensated for committing time outside of their regular schedules.

Question 10

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We understand that plans change. As long as you cancel your booking 24 hours before the tour, you will be automatically reimbursed in full.

Question 11

Why is there no option for larger groups?

Accepted Answer

Lokafy tours are better suited for smaller, more intimate groups. It's easier to interact with each other when the group stays smaller than six, allowing for valuable conversations with your Lokafyer.

Question 12

Do I tip the Lokafyer?

Accepted Answer

You are not required to tip Lokafyers, but it is a nice gesture if you enjoyed your time.
