Welcome back to another edition of the Lokafyer Profiles!
In todays Lokafyer Profile, we will be highlighting Shaudy, an amazing Lokafyer from Chicago! She explains what she loves about the windy city and how passionate she is about the food culture there!
Hey Shaudy! Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I should start by saying that I am a very lucky person because I have many friends scattered around the world. I do not know if due to my profession, which is journalism, or my natural ability to communicate with others, that I am a person who likes to connect, talk and discover the world through the stories that others can tell me. I am passionate about cooking and therefore I firmly believe that through food we can also get to know different cultures and their history. At the time of touring, visiting landmarks is important, but tasting local food completes the whole experience.
Why did you decide to join Lokafy?
From the first contact I had with Lokafy, I connected with the idea of making each place known through a local who was fascinated by the place where he/she lives. The importance of each Lokafyer showing his/her city in the same way as if he showed it to his/her friends or family definitely got me.
What do you love most about your city?
Chicago has so much architectural, culinary and natural wealth that it is difficult to decide what I like the most. However, I believe that its main charm is Lake Michigan. In summer, the whole life of the locals revolves around that immense lake that has no end (sometimes I think it's an ocean !!!). The contrast of the formality of the city merges with the relaxation of walking on the sand just a few streets apart. In addition, the public transport of this city is simply great and very useful for those who visit it.
If someone came to visit you, where would you take them to eat?
The Windy City (Chicago) is known as the quintessential gastronomic city of the United States. If I had to invite someone to eat, the first question I would ask would be: what kind of food do you want to try? Chicago has a lot of cultural diversity and restaurants of all kinds of food abound. Mexican food is very popular, but Asian food, Italian, American, Arab are popular as well. The interesting thing about this city is that it fits all budgets and offers quality options for everyone!
Thank you so much Shaudy for all that you do and how much you love where you live! We at Lokafy really appreciate you and how happy you make the guests of your city!
