1. Hi Paula, tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Paula and I am 27 years-old. I am originally from Germany. For 2 years I have been living in Greece now. I am a classical archaeologist. My special interests are languages, traveling, and sports.
2. Why did you decide to join Lokafy?
I decided to join Lokafy because I
like the idea of spending time with people from all over the world. Like this,
we can learn from each other. I provide them with information about my city
while they are individually providing me with information that matter to them.
As a Lokafy guide, I am not just sending information to the people -the people
and I are having a discourse that depends on our individual interests not only
on what I assume is interesting.
3. What do you love most about your city?
Athens is a unique place. On the one hand, Athens is one of the oldest European cities. Buildings and streets witnessed up to 3000 years of European history. On the other hand, Athens has an adolescent heart. Cafés, restaurants, open air concerts— a stroll through Athen's quarters is different every day, every hour, every minute. Sometimes, you can't enter the city because Greeks protest against the government. Then, the city is tremendously loud. It is full of people, traffic and chaos. At the very same time, you could enjoy a village-like hike at the mountain Ymittos. Up there the city seems like a tranquil, white ocean. What I love the most about Athens is hence 'her'* versatility.
*Athens is personified by Athina the fierce and tough daughter of god Zeus. She came to the world in full armour and was brave enough to go even against the whole world. Exactly this ability let her conquer the ancient Athenian's hearts.
4. If someone comes to visit you, where would you take them to eat?
I would definitely take them to the quarters close to the university. Kaiserianni, Zografou and Ilisia. The food there is amazing and authentic. If the people don't want to leave the center of Athens they will also find nice places in Exarchia and Psirri.
5. When you're not working for Lokafy, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not working for Lokafy I am usually at the university. Currently, I am learning ancient and modern Greek. During the summer months I am always traveling through Europe. Usually, I go camping, hiking and fishing. My next destination will be the wild landscape of Serbia. One day I would really like to visit the north cap.
Thanks Paula for sharing with us about your city of Athens! We at Lokafy appreciate you so much!
