About You

Tell us a bit about yourself. What inspired you to become a Lokafyer?

I’ve always enjoyed talking to people and practicing different languages, particularly French. This passion led me to start doing tours with Lokafy, where I could use my language skills while sharing the beauty of Venice with travelers.

What do you love most about the city you guide in?

Maria05

Venice is truly incredible. I love taking tourists to less touristic places and discovering hidden corners of the city together, offering them a more authentic Venetian experience.

Can you share a personal story about what led you to live in your current city?

I decided to study at Ca' Foscari University in Venice because it’s a prestigious institution, and I’ve always loved art and architecture. Venice perfectly combines both aspects, and I couldn’t resist making this beautiful city my home.

Your Lokafy Experience

Can you share a memorable experience or moment from one of your tours?

One of my most memorable tours was with two Indian families. It felt like I became a part of their family by the end of the day. We exchanged contact information, and they called me twice afterward when they had trouble navigating public transport in Venice. Helping them out and receiving their gratitude was incredibly rewarding.

Another special experience was guiding a couple on their wedding tour. They wanted a local guide to take their guests from the boat stop to the restaurant, with stops for photos in special corners of Venice. It was a very romantic and beautiful day.

What do you think makes a tour truly exceptional?

An exceptional tour is a blend of the places we visit and the personal connection we build with the travelers. I like to take photos together, and sometimes at the end of the tour, we enjoy an aperitivo together.

How do you prepare for your tours to ensure they are unique and engaging for travelers?

I always ask my guests if they have any special requests a day in advance. If not, I plan the tour based on the starting point and the length of the tour. If it’s their first time in Venice, I might add some extra spots to ensure they get a true taste of the city.

What is your favorite part of being a Lokafyer?

Maria-2

My favorite part is definitely the contact with people from all over the world. It’s a wonderful feeling to connect with so many different individuals and share in their experiences.

Have you learned anything surprising or unexpected from the travelers you've guided?

I haven’t had any huge surprises, but I’ve certainly learned new vocabulary and customs. For example, I’ve gained insights into how Carnival is celebrated in different countries.

Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered during a tour and how you handled it?

I once had to guide a tour while I was feeling very sick with the flu. I informed the travelers about my condition and we made extra pauses during the tour. Despite feeling unwell, we managed to complete the tour and it turned out to be a great experience.

Local Insights

What local hidden gems or off-the-beaten-path spots do you love to share with travelers?

I love showing travelers the ancient hospital, the island of San Michele, and the Ghetto. These spots offer a deeper connection to Venice, away from the usual tourist crowds.

Can you describe your favorite neighborhood and why you love it?

Maria-4

Cannaregio is my favorite neighborhood in Venice. It’s the most populated by Venetians, and there’s less tourism, which makes it feel more authentic.

Do you have any favorite local traditions or events that you recommend to visitors?

I always recommend trying an aperitivo, which is a very Venetian tradition. During the tours, I also like to mention the Carnival and the celebration of La Salute, as these events are deeply cherished by Venetians.

Maria Vittoria’s love for Venice and its vibrant culture is evident in every tour she leads. Her dedication to creating meaningful connections and showcasing the city’s unique charm makes her an exceptional Lokafyer. Whether you’re visiting Venice for the first time or looking to uncover its hidden gems, Maria is ready to guide you through an unforgettable journey. Let her show you the Venice that locals cherish, and take home memories that will last a lifetime.
