Tell us a bit about yourself. What inspired you to become a Lokafyer?

Smriti-2

I'm originally from India and currently pursuing a Master's in Business Consulting in Germany. My life philosophy is that "the purpose of life is to explore the wonderful things this world has to offer." Traveling fuels my passion, and the joy I get from helping others see my city through my eyes inspired me to become a Lokafyer.

What do you love most about the city you guide in?

Nuremberg-2

Imagine a city where medieval charm and modernity coexist—welcome to my fairytale city of Nuremberg! The authentic German culture you experience here is still very much alive, making it a unique and vibrant place to explore.

Can you share a personal story about what led you to live in your current city?

Initially, I only knew about bigger cities like Munich. When I landed a job there, I quickly encountered the city's housing challenges. That’s when I started researching other cities that had everything I was looking for: natural beauty, fewer crowds, all necessary facilities, and excellent transportation links. Nuremberg topped my list, and since moving here, I’ve discovered beautiful and soulful places every time I explore.

Can you share a memorable experience or moment from one of your tours?

Every tour is memorable, but one consistent highlight is the reaction of travelers when they hike up to the castle and take in the breathtaking view of the entire city. It's awe-inspiring for me every time, and I love witnessing travelers experience that same wonder.

What do you think makes a tour truly exceptional?

I believe it's the conversations that make a tour truly exceptional. Building a lasting connection with the city through my perspective helps create a wholesome experience for the travelers.

How do you prepare for your tours to ensure they are unique and engaging for travelers?

I always ask travelers about their preferences before the tour. I then create an itinerary that accommodates their wishes and send it to them for confirmation. If they don't have a specific plan in mind, I craft the best possible itinerary for the time they have, ensuring it covers the most authentic and unique parts of the city.

What is your favorite part of being a Lokafyer?

Smriti-1

Meeting different people and enriching myself with their stories is definitely a highlight. I also love the freedom Lokafy offers, which makes the experience much more enjoyable compared to traditional guided tours.

Have you learned anything surprising or unexpected from the travelers you've guided?

So far, I haven't encountered anything particularly surprising or unexpected—no funny or fascinating stories to share just yet.

Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered during a tour and how you handled it?

Fortunately, all my travelers have had smooth experiences, so I don’t have a challenging situation to share.

What feedback from travelers has been the most rewarding or impactful for you?

While travelers always appreciate my insights, the smiles at the end of a tour are the most rewarding feedback. That genuine happiness speaks volumes and brings me joy in what I do.

What local hidden gems or off-the-beaten-path spots do you love to share with travelers?

One of my favorites is the scenic frame view you get from one of the driverless metro stations—a unique experience in Nuremberg.

Can you describe your favorite neighborhood and why you love it?

I adore the lake in Nuremberg. It's my go-to spot for all moods—it soothes me, and as a fun fact, it even has a fake beach! It's like a little paradise, especially in the summer.

Do you have any favorite local traditions or events that you recommend to visitors?

Nuremberg Christmas Market

Absolutely! I highly recommend experiencing the Bavarian Oktoberfest and the Christmas Market—both are world-famous events that capture the essence of local culture.

How do you tailor your tours to cater to different types of travelers (e.g., families, solo travelers, couples)?

I simply try to be a friend who’s excited to show the best of my city, and the rest follows naturally.

What advice would you give to new Lokafyers to help them deliver exceptional experiences?

Make sure travelers are as comfortable as possible by understanding their needs and expectations. Adjust the pace of the tour accordingly, offering them options to tailor the experience to their preferences.

Do you have any tips for visitors on how to make the most of their trip?

My tips are: Share any specific interests you have beforehand, so the tour can be aligned with your preferences. Stay energetic and travel light, as it’s a walking tour.
