Situated in the beautiful country of South Africa, Cape Town is a port city in the southwest coast of the country. Home to the famous Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope, it is one of those cities in the world that has both mountain and the sea, making it a scenic treat for the eye and the perfect vacation spot for hiking and surfing! A balanced blend of culture, food, and natural landscapes, this city is more than just a tranquil vacation spot. The city has so much to offer that two weeks would fly by in the wink of an eye! Fortunately, this list can help you navigate your way through Cape Town in just 24 hours and experience the city at its best.
Start with Breakfast and stock up on energy
Start early and indulge in a good breakfast to begin your day. You could take a cable car to the top of Table Mountain for breakfast at the Table Mountain Café and start your day at the mountain. Spend a few hours on a chronological historic tour
Following breakfast begin your day at Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, that houses the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years. Today, the prison is a must-visit site for everyone who comes to Cape Town. The walls of this prison housed over 3000 political prisoners fighting against apartheid. It enumerates stories of their struggles as they toiled in the quarry in harsh conditions and exposed to torture. The island is a testament of courage, fortitude and fight for freedom in the face of brutality and persecution. The next stop is Table Mountain that overlooks the entire city of Cape Town. You can choose to hike to the top, take a cable car or do both.

The street of cobblestones and colored homes
After lunch head to one of the city’s most distinct and oldest surviving residential areas in Cape Town, Bo Kaap. Rich in history and culture, this little town is a hidden gem tucked away from the hustle-bustle of the city. Formerly known as Malay Quarter, Bo Kaap houses a mix of Cape Dutch and Cape Georgian architecture dating back to pre-1850 in South Africa. With a traditionally multicultural neighborhood, the population is mostly Muslim dominated and is home to South Africa’s oldest mosque. Walk on the cobble stone paths, visit the Bo Kaap Museum and learn about local Islamic culture and heritage, and enjoy this fascinating piece of land.
