Visit Santa Claus Village

Rovaniemi is Santa Claus’ Village, where he lives and you can go see him.

You can visit so much things in Santa Claus' hometown: Santa's Post office, the gift shops, you can see and go on a reindeer sleigh ride, go to Santa's cabin/house, enjoy some mulled wine in a goahtic a traditional Sami dwelling), visit the Elf's farm Yara.

The village is a ten minute car ride from Rovaniemi and most places in the village are open from 9:00AM to 7:00PM.

There are multiple Hiking trails available, with various degrees of difficulty for all types of hikers and for the littlest children. The nature, forest, and swamps make for a majestic hike.

There is a resort if you choose to stay there overnight. The Arctic Circle is at a 25 minute drive from Rovaniemi.


Husky Park

First and foremost you can just visit, pet and play with the Huskies and who doesn't  love spending an entire evening petting balloons of fluff. If you feel like it you can also go dog sledding.

There are several options for this one around and within Rovaniemi. Including one at Santa Claus' village. Most have an entrance fee of 7 euros for adults and 5 euros for children.


Stay at the Arctic Snow hotel and Glass Igloos

Whether you choose to stay at the Glass Igloos for one night and the opportunity to see the northern lights or visit the Arctic Snow Hotel and maybe even enjoy a snow sauna. Both experiences make for unique and fabulous memories.

They are located 30min from Rovaniemi and offer a shuttle service.one night at the hotel is around 100-129 euros. The glass Igloos are 1491¢ for one night.

Rovaniemi is perfectly located to see the fantastic Northern lights. It is located within the "Aurora zone" and has mostly clear skies. 

While the lights are not alway visible from within the city, you don't need to go very far to be able to enjoy them, a 30 min car ride should be enough
