London is a beautiful city filled with famous landmarks and claims a wealth of history and culture! That is why London is a heavily touristed area, with millions of people visiting yearly. I’ll be sharing three fun facts about London that will definitely surprise and excite you!
Yes, you read that correctly! London is culturally diverse, with over 300 languages spoken. It is home to roughly eight million people. Some of these mentioned languages that are spoken include Gujarati, Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
London is a city filled with LARGE statues and monuments, but you’ll be surprised to know that it also is home to an official smallest statue. Located on Philpot Lane, there is a statue of two mice eating cheese. So weird, right? This came about when two workers constructing the Monument got into an argument about a missing sandwich. They blamed it on each other, when it was actually the cause of a mice infestation. This must be the weirdest fact about London for sure!
The Great Pyramids of Giza can fit under the roof of the Millennium Dome! That is how big the Millennium Dome is. It has 12 supporting poles, it is 52 meters high in the middle and 365 meters in diameter. The poles symbolize the days, weeks and months of the year.
If you ever go travelling in London, you can remember these fun facts and use it as means for exploration! 😊
