Hello Tommy. Can you tell us a bit about yourself!

I’m a local, born [and raised] all my life in Bergen– except for a year in Stavanger where I realized I had to get back. In my daily life, I work as a project manager for an international oil company. This work can be stressful at times, the opposite of taking visitors on tours around Bergen. [The tours with Lokafy] gives me a lot of and for most of the time feel very relaxing for the soul and mind.

Why did you decide to join Lokafy?

I decided to join Lokafy because I love travelling myself and I have a desire to make as many visitors as possible leave my city with unique and special memories.

What do you love most about your city?

It is super hard to name only one thing. It would have to be the city mountains surrounding Bergen giving [which] you such a spectacular view, [especially] the more elevated you get.

If someone comes to visit you, where would you take them to eat?

If someone came to visit me I would take them to one of the old wooden houses at Bryggen for some local selections.

When you’re not working for Lokafy, what do you like to do for fun?

When I’m not taking visitors on tours I try to go hiking, bike trips [and go to] various places around Bergen. There are still many places to discover even for me. I might also spend some time at the tennis court, especially during the summer months!

What is your favourite travel memory?

My favourite travel memory is when I went to Brasil for the first time and planned to meet up with someone I only knew online. We toured around Brasil for a month... The rest is history 😇

What is your favourite tour memory?

My favourite tour memory is when I had a tour scheduled with an Australian couple and just [a] half hour before the tour, the plan of my son visiting his cousin got cancelled. I spoke to the visitors and they encouraged me to bring him and I did. At the end of the tour, they gave him 20 AUD which made him the happiest 7-year old that day! 99% of all the tours are good memories though.

Have you kept in touch with any travellers?

I would say around 1 of 10 travellers I hear from after the tour and I still have close contact with quite a few! Lokafy offers an extraordinary service, not only to travellers but also [for us Lokafyers], taking the travellers on tours.
