Welcome to New Orleans, the home of amazing food and the friendliest people! After landing and gathering your things, it is time to get through the noisy crowds and into the groove of the city. With the spirit of Louis Armstrong in the air, you are no doubt going to feel the rhythm of the city and enjoy your stay!
Below are a few options for getting to your accommodations from the airport!
The Airport has their own shuttle service that tends to many hotels in the downtown and centre city areas. The tickets are available on the first floor throughout the Baggage Claim section.
One-way trip (per person): $24
Round-trip (per person): $44
Each of these prices include 3 bags per person so you don’t have to worry about paying more for the luggage you have! Be warned, this can take quite a bit longer as the shuttle has to circulate the airport a few times before finally leaving. If you would like anymore information, you can click here for their website!
If you’re not travelling by yourself, hailing a taxi is a great option. It will take you to the Central Business District or French Quarter for a fixed fare of $36.00. For 3 or more people, it’s $15.00 each. So if you’re travelling with two or more people, it is even cheaper than taking a shuttle. It’ll also get you downtown in 20-25 minutes, which is definitely a bonus after a long long flight. You can find a taxi on the first level of the Terminal.
The Airport has two companies that offer bus services into the downtown core. These are both lower in cost, but do take a bit longer. Unfortunately, once you get to Elk Place and Cleveland, you’ll need to walk to your accommodations. If you’re travelling light, they are a good and cheap option. You can catch the buses outside of door #7 on the Upper Level.
Regional Transit Authority (RTA)
This company has about 8-9 departures a day with an express bus, the 202, that goes from the Airport straight to Elk Place and Cleveland. You can catch this at the departures level of the airport! If you would like anymore information, click here!
This company has about 30 departures on the weekdays with the Airport-Downtown Express, the E-2 bus, which goes from the Airport down Airline Drive to New Orleans! Their schedule is limited on Saturdays and Sundays so be sure to check their website here for any departures times or stops.
There are Greyhound Buses available from the airport and the price varies from day to day, but the average is $10. This estimate is from searching the price for a one-way ride from the Airport stop to the New Orleans Bus Station.
This is the list for all the available stops:
Recap: The cheapest option is the Public transit, but the quickest and most convenient will be the shuttle if you’re travelling solo, or taxi if you’re travelling with friends or family!
I hope this information helps you find your way to your hotel or Airbnb! Happy traveling from all of us at Lokafy Toronto!
