Alison-2

What inspired me to become a Lokafyer is my passion for meeting people from different cultures. I love the exchange of ideas, traditions, and stories that happens when people from diverse backgrounds come together.

What do you love most about the city you guide in?

What I love most about Shanghai is its diversity and vibrant atmosphere. The city is a melting pot of cultures, with a lively energy that is both exciting and inspiring.

Can you share a personal story about what led you to live in your current city?

I moved to Shanghai for my job. I teach Mandarin as a second language to foreigners. This opportunity not only allowed me to share my language and culture but also gave me the chance to learn about others from all over the world.

Memorable Experiences as a Lokafyer

Alison-3

Can you share a memorable experience or moment from one of your tours?

One of my most memorable experiences was helping a French lady purchase a traditional Chinese costume for her son. When she returned to France, she sent me a picture of her son wearing the costume. She told me how happy he was and how much he loved it, which made me feel truly appreciated.

What do you think makes a tour truly exceptional?

A tour becomes exceptional when you tailor it to the travelers' interests and do your best to satisfy their needs. Personalizing the experience and going the extra mile is key.

How do you prepare for your tours to ensure they are unique and engaging for travelers?

Alison-4

I always ask travelers about their specific requirements and interests before the tour. This allows me to prepare detailed and customized itineraries that ensure a unique and engaging experience.

What is your favorite part of being a Lokafyer?

My favorite part of being a Lokafyer is meeting people from different countries, discussing various cultures and perspectives, and sharing the unique aspects of my city.

Have you learned anything surprising or unexpected from the travelers you've guided?

Absolutely! I've learned to see things from different angles and gained new perspectives from the travelers I've guided.

Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered during a tour and how you handled it?

One challenging situation was when I couldn't contact the travelers before the tour or meet them at the agreed meeting point. They were supposed to meet me at the "Shanghai Tower," but I had no other information. I decided to go to the tower first and, fortunately, I found them there. We were able to complete the tour successfully.

What feedback from travelers has been the most rewarding or impactful for you?

Alison-6

The most rewarding feedback is when travelers genuinely enjoy the tour and express their happiness. Sometimes they even invite me to eat with them or give me tips, which is always gratifying.
