Best Places to Cottage in Ontario

So, you've seen the sights of Toronto, now what? What is there to do for the adventurer in you? Love nature? How does fishing, hiking, boating and roasting marshmallows over the campfire sound? Ontario has some of the best campgrounds and cottages - we live for long weekends.

Crystal Beach, Fort Erie, ON

The Fort Erie cottages give you small-town charm in happy union with the big city comforts. Nearby is the Shaw Festival Theatre, parks, zoos, gardens and everything you would want to do in a big city. Best of both worlds, really. If you're feeling lucky, Fallsview Casino is just a short drive away. Marineland is also close by for the kiddies!

Lake Joe is in Seguin Township. It's connected to Lake Rosseau through the narrows at Port Sandfield and the Joseph River. The furnished cottages that sit prettily along the water are only 2 hours away from the city. Get a taste of relaxation with tennis games, golf, biking, swimming and even a complimentary day camp for the kids nearby. If you love it during the summer, you won't want to skip out in the winter. Think ice skating, cross country skiing and even snowshoeing.

Putting a new spin on getting away from Everything and Everyone, how about your very own island for a few days? The picturesque paradise is twenty minutes away from Pointe au Baril Staiton. Be sure to rent a boat or you can always hail for a water taxi on the mainland.
