Just landed in South East Queensland at Brisbane Airport and need to get to the city fast? Do not fret- we’ve got you covered with 4 of the quickest and most affordable ways to get to downtown.

Congratulations on your safe landing to the land ‘down under’– now that you’re here I’m sure you’re eager to shack up at your accommodations and get your trip underway. Getting to the city centre from Brisbane Airport shouldn’t be difficult, and to make things easier we’ve given you a list of 4 of the easiest and most affordable ways to make your way downtown. Get ready for the trip of a lifetime filled with all the sun, sand and surfing the Gold Coast has to offer!

Airtrain

By far, the easiest way to get to downtown from Brisbane Airport is to take the Airtrain, which is a direct line to and from the city. It takes approximately 20 minutes roundtrip to reach the city by Airtrain with services running every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes during off-peak hours. Fast, reliable and affordable, we recommend the Airtrain for most solo or group travellers with light to average baggage and luggage. Take a seat and enjoy the sky-high views of Queensland as you make your way down to the heart of the city.

What To Keep in Mind:

  • Airtrain services run from 5 a.m. on weekdays, 6 a.m. on weekends until 10 p.m. daily
  • Tickets will set you back approx. $19 AUD, and can be purchased from the terminal kiosks
    • Tip: Buying your tickets online will save you 15% off and you will be able to use the ticket for 2 days thereafter

Coach Bus

Another affordable transit option before you reach for your phone to order a taxi or uber is to take a Greyhound bus from the airport. Greyhound Australia offers coach services to and from Brisbane Airport and has pick-ups and drop-offs all across the city. This option is great for most tired travellers as well and lets you ride in peace and luxury, with extra storage for your luggage.

What to keep in Mind:

  • Early Bird Tickets start at $12 AUD to Brisbane Terminal
  • Transfer and Pick-up times vary so there is really no need to make a mad dash to the terminal, however; keep in mind services usually stop at approximately 5 p.m., so if you're looking to explore some nightlife or have a late arrival, you'll need to take another option

Shuttle Bus

The Con-x-ion shuttle bus transfer services run 24/7 all along Brisbane Airport and can connect you directly to the city, Gold or Sunshine Coast.

What to keep in mind:

  • The easiest way to purchase tickets is online in advance from Con-x-ion, or alternatively from a kiosk at the terminal
  • Prices start at 20 AUD for a one-way transfer to the city

City Transit

Like most airports, there are also regular city transit bus lines running to and from the city. The only downside to this option though is that you will have to make your way to Skygate Centre bus terminal from Brisbane Airport (which can be conveniently reached via the free Skygate Airport Transfer bus). This option is better suited for those who travel light.

What to keep in mind:

  • Bus 590 takes you straight to Toombul Interchange, which is a hub for different routes to any of the suburbs around Brisbane
